Since I have a deep fascination with history, whenever I travel I seek out sites of historical significance.

When I was in Stone Town the previous time, I was blown away by the craftsmanship of the doors on so many of the homes.

Only now did I discover the significance of the doors.

Different door types exist in Old Town Mombasa, including the Gujerati door, Omani door and Zanzibar door.

The Swahili use doors to depict wealth. The more carved and grand a door is the richer the owner.
