“Think complexly, communicate simply” is a wise piece of advice from a teacher I’ve known for a long time.

She encourages her graduate students to engage in critical reflection and debate on difficult themes.

There is complexity to every important issue. That subtlety necessitates a struggle with complexity on our part.

However, she also encourages them to talk simply by synthesizing and delivering their message with clarity.

It spoke to me.
