Of course, you used to make stuff all the time when you were young.
You made cars with wires, you created storylines of a family, you drew, you made jokes, or craft projects or even homework.
Now, that you are older, it is really easy to hide. Easy to say I don’t have time. Easy to go to meetings. Easy to postpone it to tomorrow.
Deadlines remind us of death. But initiating, instigating, starting, organising, becoming an impresario, these are the things that make us fully alive.
“Here I made this…” The best words you can say to liberate yourself from yourself.
“Here I made this…” These four words carry generosity, intent, risk and intimacy with them.
Here I wrote this, I painted this, I photographed it, I crafted this, I composed this, I built this, I designed this, I recorded this, I fixed this, I edited this, I started this….
The more we say them, and mean them, and deliver on them, the more art and connection we create.
