I am beginning to believe that wisdom lies in calm, in stillness.

It is in stillness that we are truly aware, of ourselves, our surroundings and the world.

It is in stillness that we have a perspective that is beyond the here and now.

And, it requires stillness to filter the noise caused by the multitude of thoughts in our head and focus on what needs our attention.

It is not a wonder that we associate wisdom with age. Speed, an integral trait in the young, often blocks the ability to be still [too much of it, at least].

So, how can we help the youth become wiser?

I think the answer lies in spending some time alone every day, meditating, praying, and reflecting.

Five to ten minutes of each day will positively influence the rest of your remaining 24 hours.
