The 2 hours after facing a disappointment or setback are the worst.

Emotions are raw and very green.

Logic goes completely out of the window.

Lawyers call it temporary insanity.

I have made some decisions after disappointments that I have regretted almost immediately.

So, here is a suggestion for a simple fix:

After you face a disappointment, don’t do ANYTHING for 2 hours.

If it is a really big disappointment, perhaps take 6 hours or even 12 hours if necessary so you have some time to sleep over it or speak to someone “safe” i.e. someone who won’t take offence if you say something stupid.

The other side of the coin is to apologise profusely, forgive yourself, and move on.

I trust you will be bold enough to give a proper sincere apology.

The difficult part is to forgive yourself.

Forgive yourself for not being the best.

Forgive yourself for not being the most successful, the cutest or the one with the fastest time.

Forgive yourself for being afraid.

Forgive yourself and move on.

So, get out of your room, go listen to music, or go out for a run, whatever you do, no action for 2 hours please.
