A pathway can be defined as:
- A track that people follow, a pedestrian way, or walking trail; or
- A way of achieving a specified result, a course of action.
A student can go to school and choose the path of avoiding an E or the path of getting an A in her studies.
A premier league soccer team can choose the path of avoiding relegation or the path of winning the championship.
When you are in a relationship, you can choose the path of avoiding a breakup or the path of growing closer together.
For some people, traveling is about the destination, for others it is about the beautiful scenery on the way to the destination.
These pathways may seem similar, but they are not the same.
Choosing a path to follow, shapes your attitude and behavior on that path.
The pathways we choose, shapes who we become.
When we settle for mediocrity, we become mediocre.
On the road to mediocrity, along this path, we settle.
We settle for something not quite right, or an outfit that is not our best look, or a job that does not quite maximize our talents.
We settle for customers that makes us miserable.
We settle for jobs that every day eats way our souls.
We settle for a website that’s just “good enough.”
The only way to get mediocre is one step at a time.
You don’t have to settle. It’s a choice you get to make every day.
Mediocrity doesn’t knock when it arrives, it creeps in, uninvited, silently, slowly, using the backdoor, the next thing, it is part of the furniture in your mind.
